Critter Rescue SA made a serious spread possible for their 6th annual Christmas Lunch initiative, feeding over 2,000 shelter animals at 16 different rescue and animal welfare organisations!

Gauteng, South Africa (28 January 2025) — Every year, Critter Rescue SA plans, preps and provides Christmas lunches to shelter animals at different organisations. A big effort made possible by lovers of big and small animals alike, the 2024 Christmas Lunch run was a big success that fed over 2,000 shelter animals!

True to its name, Critter Rescue SA itself focuses on smaller creatures that often fall through the cracks of animal welfare efforts (rabbits, hedgehogs and other tiny creatures). However, during the merry season, they make the time to ensure that bigger friends like neglected and rescued dogs also have a reason to wag their tails in glee.

In a bid to ensure as many happy tails as possible, Critter Rescue SA shares buckets of meals with different charities. The progress of support is significant, too. In 2023, six organisations were treated to the festive buckets, and in 2024, that number grew to 16 organisations!

The Shelter Animals who got to enjoy a meal last Christmas were from:

  • Benoni SPCA
  • Boksburg SPCA
  • Border Collie Rescue SA
  • Community Led Animal Welfare (CLAW)
  • Friends of Rescued Animals (FORA)
  • Germiston SPCA
  • Husky Heaven Rescue
  • Maltese, French Poodle & Yorkie Rescue South Africa
  • Nigel SPCA
  • Paws R Us: SA
  • Pet Empowerment in Townships (PETS JHB)
  • Springs SPCA
  • Sunny’s Pet Outreach Team (SPOT)
  • Thaba Tshwane Dogs
  • The Animal Guardians (TAG)
  • Tiny Paws Rescue SA

Now, the Critter Rescue SA team are getting a head start on their 7th Christmas Lunch Initiative. Buckets (which feed multiple animals) are R350 to sponsor, and those looking to get involved can make a donation via the below banking details:
