This Mother’s Day, give your mom a gift that will give back to the Earth and last generations to come. Donate a tree in her name and make a difference to a struggling ecosystem.
Misha Teasdale is behind the Greenpop social enterprise, founded in 2010 while he was a producer, which aims to replenish the trees within the forests and communities of South Africa. Working with the community they plan to plant thousands of trees in underdeveloped areas and start a lasting reforestation programme.
They offer people the opportunity to buy a tree and get their hands dirty in a community that needs more trees. Greenpop has worked on many different projects including, replanting trees after the Knysna fires, creating green spaces in townships and actively working to stop deforestation through their reforestation project. The project has seen cool events such as a reforestation festival that took place over a weekend earlier this and hundreds of people joined in to plant trees.
This year Greenpop is encouraging people to buy their mother’s a lasting, Earth-changing gift that will be around for generations to come. All you need to do is donate a tree in your mother(s) honour and they will plant it on your behalf.
Your donation will help fund their reforestation project in Africa’s southernmost forest, the Platbos Forest in the Cape Overberg. This is a unique ecosystem of beautiful indigenous trees that is under threat. By sponsoring a tree as a gift, you can help regenerate this precious landscape.
“Honour your mom with a tree planted in her name and receive a personalised certificate just for her. Your gift will help restore South Africa’s indigenous forests for generations to come.”
