An advert for an awareness campaign from 2019 is going viral again because of its powerful message about our polluted oceans.

Mumbai, India (01 February 2022) – Creatives came up with a clever advert to help combat plastic pollution in Mumbai, India. The video was shared back in 2019 and has since been viewed 7.6 million times on Facebook and over 19 million times on YouTube.

The advert showcases people swimming at a hotel pool when all of a sudden, it starts filling up with plastic pollution. People can be seen scrambling to the edges to get away. Many are furious or riddled with disgust. They approach the pool manager for answers, and what they get is a sobering wake-up call from reality.

The advert is going viral again on social media, and we thought you would love to see it. The message is powerful and a global issue.

We can all do our part in protecting the oceans from plastic pollution. Here are some of our favourite ways to do so:

  • Swap out plastics for eco-friendly alternatives.
  • Recycle your plastic waste.
  • Collect litter when walking at the park, the beach, along rivers and even in your cities. Plastic enters the ocean and waterways through drainage systems.

Take a look at the powerful and very clever advert below.
