Revamped and repurposed soap bars are providing hope to rural communities and the Pebbles Project are calling on hospitality helpers to get involved!
Stellenbosch, South Africa (20 November 2024) — The Pebbles Project are seeking helpers in the hospitality industry for a unique project dubbed Soap For Hope.
Launched in March this year, Pebbles’ Soap For Hope Project aims to give second life to soap bars for the betterment of the struggling farm communities the non-profit organisation supports and the environment.
If you’ve ever gone to a hotel and wondered what happens to the soap bar you didn’t swipe, you’d likely be pointed in the direction of a landfill. Considering all the many hotels, BnBs and accommodation facilities in South Africa and how many people they provide a fresh bar of soap to daily, that’s a heck of a lot of soap that ends up slipping from bathroom to waste bin!
But the Soap For Hope Project says there’s another way to do things. A way that benefits people and the planet.
As such, the project trains and empowers unemployed people to to collect and repurpose these bars of soap in a bid to help promote accessible hygiene in their communities. It’s an obvious win both for the hospitality industry and the people who benefit from the recycling efforts.
But, it all starts with a supplied stock of soap.
As such, the Pebbles Project are inviting those in the hospitality industry to connect with them and allow the organisation to take care of their soapy headaches for the best cause.
All those who are interested can make contact via jodene@pebblesproject.co.za.
