Famed Aussie conservationist and son of the legendary Steve Irwin, Robert Irwin, is in South Africa, where he paid local cheetah heroes (and their dogs) a visit before heading to Cape Town!
Western Cape, South Africa (06 November 2024) — The Cheetah Outreach Trust recently enjoyed a wholesome visit from famed Aussie conservationist and the legendary Steve Irwin’s son, Robert Irwin, who is currently in South Africa along with many other international eco-icons.
While the conservation community gathers for Earthshot Week in Cape Town (including Prince William), Robert Irwin made sure to pay local cheetah heroes a visit further on up in the Western Cape.
The Cheetah Outreach Trust is a non-profit organisation working hard to ensure the survival of the free-ranging, Southern African Cheetah. An educational and conservation-based facility, the Trust have long been partners in conservation with Wildlife Warriors and the famous Australia Zoo that was started by Steve and Terri Irwin and continued through Irwins like Robert.
The young Irwin is now said to be exploring Cape Town with the Prince of Wales ahead of the Earthshot prize-giving taking place today, 6 November 2024.
There, five finalists will win £1 million (over R23 million) to help them effect their eco-solutions for a better world based on different key elements, namely:
- Protect and restore nature
- Clean our air
- Revive our oceans
- Build a waste-free world
- Fix our climate
