A security squad went the extra mile for Braamfontein by tackling a clean-up effort along the Nelson Mandela Bridge!
Braamfontein, South Africa (23 January 2025) — Johannesburg’s Braamfontein often gets a bad rap. Crime, degradation and other challenges have long been a battle for this part of the inner city. And while these challenges are very real, they are also not the only characters in Braam’s story.
There are many, many Joburgers fighting for a better Braamfontein. One such group is a security squad that recently beautified the Braam section of the Nelson Mandela Bridge!
If you know Johannesburg, you know that Nelson Mandela Bridge is no stranger to litter, graffiti and other eco-social headaches.
Badboyz Security went the extra mile for the landmark bridge by giving it a good clean, taking special care of the weed woes growing through the pavement.
As many of us are well aware, clean spaces make for safer spaces, and safer spaces make for happy spaces that benefit everyone.
The effort was praised by the Love Braam community and will hopefully inspire others to get their hands dirty for good reasons.

This is not the first time the security squad have tackled important clean-ups either. In anticipation of New Years Eve, another series of deep cleans were underway in both Braamfontein and Hillbrow.
Meanwhile, in other parts of our country where clean-up efforts inspired communities, Brian the sand artist, has had his praises sung for his dedication to keeping Uvongo Beach spick and span! From raking up seaweed to managing the ever formidable ‘red tides’; his efforts have not gone unnoticed.
