Thanks to the delicate care of the Kloof community and wildlife veterinary experts, a tiny, injured grey mongoose was treated of its wounds and nursed back to health before being joyfully released back into its natural habitat!
Kloof, South Africa (13 March 2025) – One little grey mongoose, though an animal born for the wild, was the centre of human compassion and care when found injured.
She was discovered by a caring community in the Kloof area, who quickly came to her rescue and took her to the Village Veterinary Clinic. There, a Centre for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) team stepped in to help, offering their expertise in sparing the small mammal from further pain.
“Upon examination, our dedicated nurses discovered painful wounds on her feet. With expert care from our Clinic Manager, Estie, along with fluids and treatment, she slowly regained her strength,” CROW shared.
The grey mongoose soon made a full recovery and was successfully released back into the wild last month, where she will get to be one with nature once again, in prime condition to go about her days.
“A huge thank you to The Marching Animal Trust for providing funds for essential services such as veterinary bills and animal feed. Your generosity plays a vital role in giving wildlife like this mongoose a second chance,” thanked CROW.
Whether big or small, all hearts that beat matter, and this heartwarming rescue is just one of many examples that demonstrate the commendable and vital work CROW does in rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing wildlife.
This year marks 45 years since CROW was at the forefront of wildlife welfare rescue, ensuring that animals like this mongoose get a second chance in their natural habitat.
“Thank you to our incredible supporters who make these rescues possible!”
