The tortoises at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) have been pampered like royalty by kind and caring volunteers who have willingly rolled up their sleeves to dedicate their time towards nurturing their environment.

Durban, South Africa (13 November 2024) – The endearing tortoises at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) have been the recipients of extraordinary care and affection lately. Dedicated volunteers recently took a break from their daily routines to pamper these magnificent creatures, ensuring their well-being and comfort.

As part of its continued efforts to support wildlife, CROW provides exciting volunteering and internship experiences where advocates for wildlife (or those who are just curious about it) can learn about local wildlife rehabilitation and conservation with all its challenges and complexities.

Soaking in the joy of volunteering, the past few weeks have seen selfless individuals spruce up the tortoise enclosures by cleaning tortoise ponds at the tortoise camp, clearing old branches and debris after the recent inclement weather, refreshing the tortoise ICU facility and even giving the tortoises lovely baths too!

“From caring for our wildlife patients to keeping our facilities in top shape, volunteers like these bring passion and commitment that makes a real difference in wildlife rehabilitation. CROW would not be where we are without their invaluable support,” CROW said.

Volunteers can also work alongside the CROW team daily, assisting with wildlife care, rescues and releases, marketing and fundraising.
