The rescued tortoises currently being rehabilitated for release at the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital recently got tortoise hotels and they love them.

Johannesburg, South Africa (04 July 2022) – Rescued tortoises love their new cottages and hotels at the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital. The units are so well-loved by the tortoises they are hoping to add a few more at the facility.

The original hotels were donated by Advanced Crating Solutions and designed to the exact needs of the hard-shelled creatures. Rod Grey and his team did an excellent job, and the proof is in how popular the hotels have been.

The wildlife vet team were delighted to hear that Rod’s team would build more, so they are now raising the funds needed to supply the necessary materials for a few more units.

“These gorgeous tortoise hotels are loved by our tortoises, especially during these colder weeks – often resulting in congestion on the hotel on-ramps in the late afternoon to book in!

The Advanced crating solutions team has offered to make some more cottages (the smaller ones) as well as the hotels (larger ones) if we cover the cost of the materials.

If you would consider sponsoring one of these delightful abodes, at R600 or R1500 each, or even contribute to one, we would REALLY appreciate it!!”

The housing has been great. The vet also recently welcomed gardeners to help them feed the varied appetites of the tortoises in their care. If you are an avid gardener, you could be growing the plants needed to sustain the recovering tortoises. You can read more about that here.

You can support the building of more of these by donating below.
