The Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital needs towels; they sent out a plea earlier this week explaining that they needed more towels to help in caring for injured wildlife.
South Africa (08 June 2023) – Towels are an essential tool in every single animal welfare organisation’s arsenal. They are used for restraining, drying, warming, padding, cleaning, soothing, blacking out light and just about any other useful thing you can think of.
The Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital use towels every day, for every case, but much of their stock is deteriorating as the towels get washed thoroughly after each use. Holes are developing in the fabric which can be a danger for the sickly wildlife.
The team have sent out an online plea for donations of towels.
“We use towels on a daily basis and through daily washing, some have deteriorated to such an extent that the holes present a hazard to our patients! Do you have any towels to spare? We are particularly in need of larger towels.
We treat indigenous animals free of charge, relying solely on the donations and support of our community.”
They don’t need to be fluffy new towels, they just can’t have holes or fraying edges. If you have a few at the back of your linen cupboard that have not been added to the rotation in a while, they would be welcomed at the veterinary hospital.
