A vervet monkey, once a victim of human cruelty, has found a second chance at life.

Durban, South Africa (25 August 2024) – Thanks to the tireless efforts of the CROW team, this injured creature has been nursed back to health and returned to its rightful place in the wild.

The monkey was rescued in the Chatsworth area in Durban and was found on the ground with an open wound on his left arm.

CROW had received numerous calls about a vervet monkey in the Wentworth area with a rope tightly wound around its legs, cutting into its flesh.

The wildlife team was actively on the lookout for the monkey to provide the necessary medical care.

After being treated by nurses, this monkey stayed with them for about nine days. Thanks to the dedicated team at CROW, another life returns to where it belongs, free and wild.

Much like this vervet monkey, many wildlife animals are tragically mistreated by humans who lack understanding and empathy for these creatures. These innocent beings are often subjected to cruelty, neglect, and exploitation, resulting in suffering, injury, and even death.

We’re so chuffed this little guy’s story ended on a happy note. This makes the rescue and rehabilitation work done by the highly dedicated and experienced team at CROW so important!

What a heartwarming tale of resilience and redemption, reminding us all of the importance of wildlife conservation and the power of compassion and care.
