Desert Animals

John Wells lives off the grid out in the Texan Desert, he decided to hide a camera in a large bucket of water and film the thirsty desert animals drinking.

Jack Wells moved out to Southwest Texas as part of an off the grid project for ‘The Field Lab’.  It’s an alternative energy and sustainable living field laboratory.

Jack decided to film the desert animals by hiding his camera inside a bucket of water. Some of the animals filmed were wild while others roam freely on the property.

He managed to film some bees, chickens, birds, a rabbit and even a donkey (burro). The donkey is the biggest back washer by far!

“Everybody loves water in the desert. I was pleasantly surprised during the edit to see that George made an appearance. I know him from all the other rabbits because of the tiny notch in his ear.”

“A burro just happened to come by in time to be included. Ben went against the script and decided to just nudge the bucket. You can lead a steer to water but you can’t make him drink. Note: The swimming bees were rescued.”

Ben is a steer bull, he just bumps the bucket and as he walks off, gives a cheeky little grin. Since the video was posted it has been viewed 1.2 million times. A follow on video was posted on the YouTube channel, ‘The Field Lab’, of Ben the Bull getting ear rubs and loving it!
