The SPCA deal with many rescues like these where plastic ends up in the ocean and gets entangled around seals and other wildlife. A reminder to please dispose of your plastic wisely.
Western Cape, South Africa (23 December 2022) – A brave SPCA inspector rescued two seals entangled in plastic – a reminder to all to safely dispose of your trash, so it doesn’t end up in our oceans.
“What an amazing team we have! Cadet Inspector Bryan Arendse responded to a call for help for two seals that had plastic entanglements around their necks at the V&A Waterfront.”
“Brave Bryan” managed to safely remove the entanglements – and made it look so easy!
Bryan had to wait for the right opportunity to get the SPCA specialized hook around the plastic and then cut it. It is way more complicated than it looks!
