Pods of whales have been spotted in Table Bay and the most recent pod was seen with a beautifully white calf which was initially thought to be albino.
Blouberg, South Africa (16 April 2021) – Madic Media filmed an incredible whale sighting recently, spotting a pod of whales and one looked to be an albino.
Madic Media is a group of creators and athletes with a shared passion for wind, water, and waves. Their works highlight the beauty of the ocean, focussing on the coastline of Table Bay.
The team were so excited to film what appears to be an albino whale, however, we have since learned the whale is not an albino and that this is infact a very normal occurence.
According to Seafari App, which commented on the amazing video, these are Brindle Southern Right Whales and it is very common for the whale calves to be born white and darken as they grow. So while this stunning whale calf is white for now, it will eventually turn gray.
