Every smile tells a story. And this World Oral Health Day, Bet on Better is making sure they’re bright ones.
Johannesburg, South Africa (03 February 2026) – A smile is one of the first few things a person notices about our appearance, and a healthy one begins with simple daily habits – brushing and caring for our teeth.
This World Oral Health Day (20 March), Bet on Better is extending its efforts beyond its usual mission to combat hunger, offer educational opportunities, and promote dignity in impoverished communities by launching a community initiative to collect toothpaste and toothbrushes for individuals and families without access to essential oral care products.
“Many people in our communities go without these simple items, leading to preventable dental problems and discomfort,” said Bet on Better’s Nanine Levitz.

The organisation is centred around addressing the fundamental needs of people, thereby empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future.
The team behind this force is now aiming to put essential dental care into the hands of those who need it most. They are reaching out to the wider public to support their current campaign by donating toothpaste and toothbrushes.
“You can help promote better oral hygiene and brighter smiles for those in need. Every item collected will be distributed to schools, shelters, and community centres as part of our World Oral Health Day outreach. Together, we can make a lasting impact – one smile at a time.”
How to Contribute to Healthier Smiles
You can contribute to this initiative by donating new, unopened toothpaste and toothbrushes. These can be dropped off at 34 20th Street in Parkhurst, from 1 February to 20 March 2026. For larger contributions or partnership inquiries, contact Nanine Levitz via email at [email protected].
As a registered non-profit organisation, Bet on Better can issue Section 18A tax certificates for all donations.
“Thank you for supporting this meaningful cause and helping spread the message of good oral health for all,” Nadine thanks in advance.
