Wendy Alberts has spent decades championing South Africa’s hospitality industry but her latest mission is encouraging people to discover the beauty of the country while creating meaningful impact along the way.

South Africa (22 July 2026) – On this week’s episode of “Good Things with Brent Lindeque”, I sit down with Wendy Alberts, the Chief Executive Officer of the Restaurant Association of South Africa and the founder of Love in a Bottle, for a conversation about finding new ways to do good.

I first met Wendy during the COVID, when restaurants across the country were fighting to stay alive. While doors were closed and uncertainty was everywhere, Wendy was working tirelessly to help restaurant owners navigate lockdown regulations, protect jobs and, in many cases, simply survive. At Good Things Guy, we tried to support the industry wherever we could, sharing stories, amplifying campaigns and reminding South Africans how much restaurants meant to our communities.

Fast forward to 2026, when I needed bottled water for an event but knew I did not want to choose just any brand. That search led me back to Wendy and to Love in a Bottle, her purpose-driven initiative that turns an everyday product into an opportunity to support charitable causes and uplift communities.

It felt like such a Wendy thing to do… take something simple, add heart and create an impact far beyond the bottle itself.

Wendy has spent more than two decades championing South Africa’s restaurant industry, working with business owners, government and industry partners to support growth, improve standards and strengthen the sector. Through RASA, she has helped restaurants navigate legislation, compliance, training and business development, while remaining one of the industry’s strongest and most respected advocates.

In this episode, we chat a little about RASA, a lot about Love in a Bottle, and even more about Wendy’s deep love for South Africa. That love is now taking her in a new direction, and yes, it involves hiking. Wendy wants to explore the country on foot and use those journeys to show South Africans and visitors from around the globe just how magnificent our landscapes, communities and hidden corners truly are.
