Elandré Schwartz South African singer

An Afrikaans singer from a small town in South Africa has landed a record deal after uploading a video which went viral globally.

Eastern Cape, South Africa – Elandré Schwartz was born in Despatch in the Eastern Cape. After posting a video online of his rendition of ‘Tougher than the rest’ in October 2016, he received over 800k views and even landed a record deal because of it.

Elandré wrote: “Dankie Bruce. #springsteen #afrikaans #USA #share?” Many of his new fans said they got goosebumps and had tears listening to his beautiful rendition, and that he really “nailed it”!

Soon after that, the 21-year-old was asked to set up a guitar for direct action on Bok Radio 98.9 FM and Bok TV but did not know he would leave the station with a Select Music Plate contract!

Bok Radio Breakfast presenters, Wimpie van der Sandt and Le-Lue Roode invited this talented singer to an acoustic performance of a few songs – such as Bruce Springsteen’s “Tougher than the Rest” and Josh Turner’s “Your Man” – on the air. Just as he had done to many audiences, he had the entire studio in aback with his remarkable talent and deep voice, unaware of the fact that his life turned to the second song in the best way be!

Ernst Kleinhans of Select Music was on the phone waiting to share the big news with him during the broadcast: “I’m going live on the air, officially offering you a record contract at Select Music. You deserve to be heard, you deserve to have a CD out there and share your talent with the people.”

Elandré has since done a series of local performances, as well as an action on the Bok Radio boat trip to Walvis Bay in Namibia in January 2017.

Keep an eye on Elandré Schwartz – undoubtedly one of the brightest young stars in the South African music industry!
