100 children and their beloved dogs got a festive hamper last week to celebrate all their hard work this year; Funda Nenja loved celebrating each and every one of them.
Mpophomeni, South Africa (06 December 2021) – It is the time of year where charities start launching their festive initiatives to make sure the festive season is filled with joy. Funda Nenja launched their annual hamper drive in October and hoped to support 100 children and dogs.
The festive hamper drive was a success and all the children left beaming from ear to ear. Their loyal pups couldn’t contain their wagging tails either!
Funda Nenja, a dog training initiative, run in the township of Mpophomeni, near Howick, in the KZN Midlands of South Africa. They focus on animal welfare in the area by providing dog training lessons to the children.
These lessons teach the dogs some skills and help the children bond with their pets to form a deeper connection. The classes help educate children in animal welfare and encourage them to show their families how to treat animals.
The classes are hosted each week, and as part of the programme, the dogs involved get checked up by the primary veterinary clinic. Any animals not inoculated yet, get it done right there.
The festive packs were filled with fun and yummy goodies for both the child and their beloved dog. The children got gifted sweet treats and the dogs, enough pellats and wet food to enjoy over the festive break.
“We would like to thank everyone who donated towards our Christmas hampers this year. We handed them out on Friday afternoon and the children were delighted with them. They were filled with many lovely goodies for both the kids and the dogs. We would also like to thank Glynn & Jean Harborth from Hilton & Howick Rotary for once again organising and packing the hampers on our behalf, together with some other volunteers.”
