South Africa has many different languages and sometimes it can be easy to get lost in translation. This hilarious advert had us in stitches of laughter.
South Africa (17 April 2018) – We nearly spat out our morning coffee when we saw the video that Bouwer Bosch and his friend Bennie Fourie made for King Price Insurance.
The duo recently set up their creative agency “Freckle” and the King Price job was one of their first. Since the video went live, it has had people giggling at the funny way that an Afrikaans farmer got lost in translation.
The poor farmer went to an English doctor in his local “dorp” to get advice about how to make his wife happier. The doctor gave the farmer a basic prescription of romance to help get things back on track.
However, the farmer misinterpreted the instructions and got caught in the act of doing something rather awkward. The doctor obviously said,
“You have to do something sexy to attract her” but what the farmer heard was “You have to do something to a tractor”
The advert is incredibly clever and we loved how true to South Africa is it. Watch it below.
So me and my friend Bennie Fourie started our creative agency and it’s called “Freckle” – this is our first television ad we just did for @KingPriceIns pic.twitter.com/nSE6BHqlTF
