Johannesburg, South Africa (31 January 2023) – Unilever has confirmed that Hellmann’s Mayonnaise will no longer be sold in South Africa but Nola wants everyone to know that they are still here.

South African social media was set alight with the news that the 100-year-old New York-created Mayonnaise brand would be leaving our shores due to “high inflationary import costs”.

Hellmann’s broke the news in a Facebook post yesterday, “it’s hard to say goodbye to delicious Hellmann’s Mayonnaise. Due to high inflationary import costs, we will regretfully be discontinuing Hellmann’s in South Africa until further notice. A big thanks to our loyal fans for all the mayo love over the years.”

In response, Nola Mayonnaise, a proudly South African product, put out a TikTok video featuring “Nola Man” who is actually comedian Sne Dladla.

The video features a parody of “Watch me Whip” and has garnered over 300,000 views in just 4 hours, proving that South Africans have a way of making light of any situation… even a Mayo departure. Crosse and Blackwell, we’re all waiting for your reply next.
