Nombabhaso Mani’s home was in need of a facelift, so her local minucipality leant a helping hand to revamp it and make sure it was wheelchair accessable.
Kouga, South Africa (17 August 2022) – It can be tough keeping the house in order when you reach your older years which is why the Kouga Municipality gave 73-year-old Nombabhaso Mani’s home a facelift. Aside from fixing up her home, she was also gifted a new wheelchair so she can be more mobile within her community.
The house was in bad condition and needed a fresh coat of paint and a few repairs on the roof. To cater to her wheelchair, the department added a cement walkway so she can easily get from her home to the street.
A new door and windows was added and the kitchen got equpiied with a new fridge and sink. Lastly, her bathroom was upgraded to cater to her needs as an older woman. These upgrades have gone a long way in helping her live a better life.
The entire project was supported by the Kouga Municipality’ Community Services Department, in conjunction with the Office of the Mayor. The kitchen was equipped with a new sink and refrigerator donated by the Planning, Development and Tourism Department at Kouga Municipality.
