South Africa – A group has been created on Facebook to celebrate South Africans who are proud to say that they are staying.
Jarette Petzer started the “#IamStaying” group to create a place for positive, like-minded South Africans to come together to celebrate the fact that they are staying in our beautiful country.
“The idea is that we have so much negativity in our mainstream media which sells fear, contempt and sells division, but this space is a platform where we can inspire each other and become united.”
Good Things Guy was invited to share our positive stories with the group, and the reception has been amazing but even more so, the growth of the group has been incredible to watch.
The #IamStaying group has already gained over 22 000 South African followers in just one week, who are sharing their positive feelings around staying in the country, but Petzer says the group is becoming so much more and is fast becoming a place to facilitate growth in South Africa’s economy by helping businesses grow.
The group has been approached by investors to help them find businesses who seek additional funding to grow.
“It can be any type of small business the pre-requisite is that the businesses must aim to employ more people and help reduce unemployment. What we are going to do then is collect all the data coming in from the group and help sift through businesses until we find what we think is a good fit. Then investors and businesses will connect and get things in motion, and we will cover that story as it develops.”
The whole is that this further accelerates the group numbers and attracts more businesses and more investors so that they can then start to shape the group as a tangible economic growth engine.
Petzer believes that this is an amazing way to tackle unemployment in our country and to ultimately stimulate South Africa’s economy.
