People are now able to express their personal gender pronouns on social media, making it easier for people to address them correctly.
Global (23 September 2021) – As the world becomes more inclusive, our language needs to change along with it and become more inclusive too. Personal gender pronouns are a good place to start to make a more inclusive society.
Allowing someone to embrace their own identity is one of the most empowering things you can do for a person. Just letting them be who they need to be.
In a continued effort for users to have more control over their identity, Instagram is making it easier for people to publicly display their pronouns on their profile via a new field. Instagram has always been a place where users can express and be themselves – and with this latest feature, IG is excited to normalise pronoun usage while promoting a more thoughtful community.
