After taking a painful fall during his skateboarding journey across Africa, Jason Vanporppal found himself on the receiving end of some very South African care.
South Africa (18 May 2026) – Jason Vanporppal, an American skateboarder, recently took a long-distance journey across Africa, which recently took an unexpected turn when a rough fall on a South African road left him bruised and needing a moment to recover.
But instead of being left stranded, people nearby quickly stepped in to help, and the internet absolutely loved the very South African way they did it.
Someone handed him a Grand-Pa. Someone else brought an energy drink. Others helped get him cleaned up and checked on before he eventually got back on his skateboard to continue the journey.
The moment, which has been circulating on social media, quickly became one of those feel-good reminders of how strangers often come together when someone needs help. What could have been just another painful setback during a demanding trip instead turned into a wholesome interaction that many people online found both funny and heartwarming.
Jason has been documenting his skating journey across Africa, taking on long roads, changing conditions and physically demanding stretches along the way. His adventure has already attracted attention online, with many following his progress from one destination to the next.
Jason was soon back on his board and continuing the journey, now with another memorable story from South Africa added to the trip.
