Troy Sherpards is bringing the laaaht-hearted comedy with his Joburg Moms content again, and South Africa (including the moms) is loving it!
Johannesburg, South Africa (03 July 2025) – Guuuys, we are cry-laughing as we wraaaate this one. Troy Shepards is back with another South African accent funny, and again, he is haalaaaghting the Joburg mom accent. It got me thinking, Troy, what did Joburg moms ever do to you?
While we are giggling, we totally get it. South Africa is a melting pot of languages and accents. The North of Joburg differs greatly from the South, as do the accents of Northern KZN and the southern stretches. And we won’t get started on Capetonians.
You can almost always tell where someone is from by either the language they speak or the way they pronounce the most common words.
What we love most about Troy’s skits is that South Africans love them too, especially the Joburg moms.
In his latest skit, Troy has us rolling as a Joburg/Durban mom doing English homework with her child. Our favourite is his comment, “Stop putting on an accent”.
Ag, shame!
