Flying to her son’s graduation became a nightmare for the mom. “I was stuck in the airport, in this strange country, with nobody I knew.”
Chicago, USA (12 May 2022) – It was a long and emotional journey for Kirsten Venditti to make it to her son’s graduation in Des Moines, Iowa.
The proud mom lives in South Africa and wanted to witness her oldest son graduate from Grandview University. Alessandro Vendetti had been studying in Iowa for the last couple of years and was the first graduate in her family, but Kirsten had never travelled to the USA before.
The mom had just flown to America from South Africa, and according to the news clip, everything was working in her favour to make it to her son’s graduation on time until her flight from Chicago got cancelled last minute.
“Let me tell you, there were no cars available, but they managed to get a car. And they drove through the night in the rain to Des Moines,” shared Kirsten Venditti.
Dave and Gayle Bogess – kind strangers who were on the same flight – heard her story and immediately knew they had to help!
“I know what it’s like to be a mom and graduation, and I wouldn’t want to miss it either. I understand where you’re coming from. So I just couldn’t think about leaving her there,” said Gayle Bogess.
