For Liam, a courageous boy from Ottosdal with a heart as big as his love for machinery, the dream of driving and owning a John Deere tractor recently became an awesome reality.

Ottosdal, South Africa (17 March 2026) – Like most young boys, Liam loves his wheels. Some really big ones at that!

Living in the small farming town of Ottosdal in the North West Province, Liam naturally developed a true love for tractors, especially the iconic John Deere machines.

He’s dreamt of getting one of these tractors to call his own, and thanks to the Reach for a Dream Foundation, that dream was brought to life.

Living with a brain tumour, this young warrior was given a deserved break from the reality of his health battle in the perfect setting at a farm in Leeuwfontein.

“Surrounded by the tractors he admires so much, Liam climbed into one for a ride and, with a little help, even got the chance to steer and press the buttons himself. The excitement on his face said it all,” RFAD shared.

In a video shared online, a bright-eyed Liam is seen marvelling at the big green tractor before hopping onto the driver’s lap to try himself out at driving the high-horsepower row-crop machine he’s always admired from a distance.

“When the ride came to an end, Liam discovered his dream waiting for him between the big tractors. His very own little John Deere. The moment he realised it was his to take home, his joy was impossible to miss.”

His joy has been absolutely infectious, spreading across the internet and warming the hearts of everyone who has encountered his story. As some people online have shared:

“Thank you for bringing him so much joy today. God is a way-maker miracle worker,” one person commented.

While another wrote:

“Gorgeous day for a dream come true! Enjoy your tractor.”

RFAD extends its heartfelt appreciation to the sponsors of the day, as well as Johan and his family, for their incredible hospitality and for making this unforgettable day possible.

What a special day for a boy twice as special. Happy Dream Day, Liam!
