Motherhood is a challenging yet beautiful journey, and that journey takes on a unique dimension for mothers navigating the daunting world of paediatric oncology. That’s why some really amazing volunteers are stepping up to pour into their cups just in time for Mother’s Day.

South Africa (03 April 2025) – Being a mom is one of those incredibly challenging yet overwhelmingly amazing roles so many women get to play every single day – whether it comes easily for them to show up for the task or not.

Most of these women will also share a thing or two about the struggles of having to care for an ill little one and longing for nothing but to do anything possible to take their child’s suffering away.

Day after day, many mothers bravely walk in and out of the paediatric oncology wards of local hospitals wearing masks of bravery as they support their little warriors during their toughest and often agonising battles with cancer.

With hopes to bring a sense of comforting solidarity to moms holding on to every little bit of hope for the healing of their children, is Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer this coming Mother’s Day.

Volunteers are calling on all the Cupcake Angels to help them pour back into the cups of resilient mothers who selflessly do all they can to support their little warriors by putting together and gifting them little hampers of comforting goodness.

“We would like to spoil 600 incredible onco moms with a small gift—a moment to pause, breathe, and enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate,” Cupcakes 4 Kids shares.

To make this possible, the organisation is currently collecting 600 hand creams and hot chocolate sachets.

It’s the little things that matter. For a mother enduring an unimaginable journey of pain that daily tests her faith, a small gesture from those who empathise with her can make a world of difference.
