One school in Joburg has set itself a goal that will make a difference in the lives of thousands, and double the number of eyes!
Edenvale, Johannesburg (08 September 2025) – Holy Rosary School, an all-girls school in Jozi, has teamed up with Lens of Hope South Africa to launch an initiative that’s all about restoring vision and making life bright again.
They’re on a mission to collect 8,500 pairs of old spectacles and give them a brand-new purpose.
Every pair of donated glasses will be refurbished and passed on to someone who needs them most. They will be turning the old and forgotten frames that most of us stash in cupboards and drawers into better eyesight for thousands of people.
The campaign ties in with World Sight Day coming up on 9 October, part of the global #LoveYourEyes movement. By joining in, Holy Rosary is adding South Africa’s voice to an international call for affordable and accessible eye care for everyone.
Instead of collecting dust, those unused glasses can now become tools for learning, working, and living with confidence.
Holy Rosary is the *main collection point for old spectacles and cases, but the hope and greater goal is to get whole communities involved. Schools, churches, businesses, and neighbourhoods can all join in by requesting collection boxes and posters.
Life gets more colour when you can see it properly, and this is a chance to be that change for someone who can’t afford their own specs.

Don’t take the two gifts that you open every morning, your eyes, for granted!
*Due to massive public interest, Jetline printers have come on board as an additional collection point. You can drop your spectacles at any Jetline store countrywide.
