Sonny, a South African street artist has completed a new masterpiece on the streets of Johannesburg showcasing a beautiful peregrine falcon!

Johannesburg, South Africa – Sonny, a South African Street Artist came home after a successful year of sharing his conservation art with the world. He started the ‘To The Bone’ project to bring awareness to the abuse of wildlife. His artworks create conversations around conservation across the globe.

From targeting Trump with an elephant mural to combat his attempt at lifting the ban on hunting trophies allowed into the US, to highlighting the plight of habitat loss for tigers.

“So Trump tried to undermine years of conservation efforts to protect our majestic elephants! If he gets away with reversing the ban on bringing hunting “trophies” of these endangered species into the US it will seriously impact elephant populations and reverse so much hard work at such a critical time! Let’s not let this happen!”

He completed his successful “To the Bone” series by donating a large portion of his art sales to the #ProjectCAT which is an initiative by Discovery Inc and the World Wildlife Fund. He handed over a whopping $15,500.00. The project aims to double the number of tigers in the wild. They are conserving 2-million acres of protected land in India and Bhutan to become the habitat for these tigers.

“When I initially got the idea in my head that I wanted to help make a difference and help protect our wildlife, using my art was the only way I knew how. But I never dreamt that I’d be here today handing over this amount of money after having raised awareness around the world through my murals.

It may not be enough to change the world, but it’s something. Without getting too soppy or cliché, my only hope is that this can inspire ANYONE to believe that you can make a difference. You’ll be surprised by what you can achieve with a set goal and determination!”

We reported that Sonny was back in South Africa and already working on a new piece somewhere in South Africa. He has completed it and we can now confirm that the new street artwork can be found in Johannesburg at the end of Malibongwe Avenue on Linden Avenue.

‘Javistha’, my latest mural in Johannesburg. The peregrine falcon is renowned for being the fastest animal on earth, going a mere 380kph! A super versatile bird, they can adapt to most cities around the world using high rise buildings as perches for nesting and eyeing out prey!

Take a look at the completed artwork below and let us know if you spot it while driving around Johannesburg.
