Beanies for Beings’ trusted charity car has been crucial to reaching vulnerable families and individuals in underserved communities for eight years. Now, that lifeline is broken, and it has taken the organisation great courage to ask for the public’s support to get back on the road again.
Northriding, South Africa (30 January 2025) – After eight years of dedicated service to numerous communities in need, Beanies for Beings’ trusted charity car has sadly broken down.
The volunteers of this beloved organisation, which goes out of its way to support families and vulnerable individuals, are devastated after the vehicle suffered a blown head gasket and cracked radiator yesterday.
“It was a very difficult and emotional day,” shares Megan from Beanies for Beings.
“Realising that not only do we lack the financial means to cover the repair costs, but we also know that without the car, our outreach work within the community will suffer.”
Megan shared that she has always been hesitant to ask for help with the charity’s running costs. However, recognising that their ability to assist others is now compromised, she feels she must seek public support.
The repairs are estimated to take approximately four weeks, but the total cost remains uncertain due to the extent of the damage.
“After eight years of managing on our own, we simply can’t do this alone anymore, and we truly need help. Any amount contributed will go a long way in easing this scary and unexpected situation we are currently experiencing,” Megan explains.
The car is currently with the charity’s trusted mechanic, who has graciously agreed to open an invoice for the charity so that it has a reference number for payments and to keep Megan and the team up to date with the costs and payments moving forward.
“Any assistance you can offer can be paid directly into their bank account.
“It has taken a lot of courage for me to ask for help, and I thank you in advance for being willing to assist us in being able to continue helping others,” Megan humbly appeals.
