The community-driven movement makes a continued effort to ensure there are fewer hungry bellies in Boksburg.

Boksburg (09 September 2025) – This week, it came as a bakkie-load of love. Feeding Boksburg, an organisation that focuses on feeding less fortunate families in Boksburg, together with NPO partners Urban Ruins Projects, RySky Foundation, Alcra Rescue and other centres banded together to make a massive difference, providing for three communities who needed it most.

They raised a total of R14,000 in food and essentials, distributed over the weekend.

The Feeding Boksburg initiative began when Anché Moore, a community advocate from Witfield, made giving back her purpose. What started as a Boksburg community support group on Facebook, initiated by Moore blossomed into an entire movement known as #FeedingsBoksburg in 2024.

Since then, Anché with the help of incredible donors, kind sponsors and other on-the-ground organisations have made real magic happen.

Feeding Boksburg has run soup kitchens and frequent feeding schemes that have cumulatively fed thousands of hungry bellies over the last year. On top of that, the initiative has also supported children with stationary drives, goodie packs and more.

The initiative would not be possible without the help of others. Moore encourages local businesses to get involved by sponsoring feeding schemes. Every little bit of help makes a huge difference in the lives of those who can’t afford the basics.

Corporate sponsors, along with individual and anonymous donors, have made a massive impact through contributions.

Compassion makes amazing things happen. The most recent feeding scheme is a result of a village standing together for what matters, says Anche.

“This is what a ‘community that stands together’ represents,” she says.
