International star Calum Scott brought his mom along for the South African leg of his album tour…and she’s definitely the personality hire!

South Africa (22 January 2026) – British singer-songwriter Calum Scott has just wrapped up three shows on the South African leg of his international album tour.

The artist, whose popular hits include You Are The Reason and Where Are You Now, visited Mzansi for the fourth time in January, with performances in Durban, Pretoria, and a sold out show in the Mother City.

The tour promotes Scott’s new album, Avenoir, released in October last year.

One standout moment from Scott’s South African shows came when he performed I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me). With the blessing of the late icon Whitney Houston’s estate, Scott duets with the hit’s original vocal stems. South Africa loves Whitney!

South Africa also loves Debbie. Debs.

She’s Calum’s mom. Calum grew up without a dad – Debs raised him. Now he gets to bring her around the world on tour. She tags along for radio interviews, shows, everything. And Debs wears many hats. Looking after merch, sorting wardrobe, and even playing tour operator in a city she’s never visited…

Recently, Calum had the opportunity of exploring Table Mountain and surrounds with his mom. They got it on video. Her commentary is the best!

‘Fash hun, baby!’

Only Debbie can rock a Table Mountain cap like that.

The two of them also did a radio interview with Kfm in Cape Town. While visiting the studio, Calum was gifted an artwork made by local artist Kevin van Niekerk. Painted with coffee, the piece features Calum, Whitney Houston…and DEBS!

South Africa has adopted Debs as their own:

“W’s in the chat for Mama Debs,” shares Billboard Africa.

“Debs is an icon,” writes Abbie Dunn.

“She’s a whole vibe and we are here for it,” said Marianna Rothbard.
