Cats the musical is making its big-screen debut but the first trailer has opened up to some very mixed reactions, we, however, are excited!

Global – If you didn’t watch CATS growing up, this is your chance to be blown away by the exciting broadway musical only this time it is hitting the big screen.

Cats is a sung-through musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot. The musical tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make the “Jellicle choice”, deciding which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.

It is one of the top longest-running Broadway shows to date.

People have reacted to the new trailer which was released recently, some calling it horrifying to see. As a massive fan of the original, the trailer is less terrifying and more exciting than imagined.

Some of the concerns are that the cats look too human, others complained the cats are too small. Most people are just upset that the stars in the movie are not dressed similarly to the original by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Stars including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, Dame Judi Dench, Rebel Wilson and Jason Derulo are just a few of the people cast in the new film. Dame Judi Dench first auditioned for the musical when she was young but couldn’t accept a role due to an ankle injury. Now years later, she has finally been given to chance to perform in the hit show.

Are you excited or freaked out for the new movie? Take a look at the trailer below to decide.
