Opening a charity shop becomes a huge financial boost for any charity; the Riebeek Animal Welfare team just revamped their shop, adding a trove of treasures to the store.

Riebeek Kasteel, South Africa (21 August 2023) – The Riebeek Animal Welfare (RAW) recently revamped their charity shop and has started selling preloved and second-hand items to raise funds for their animal welfare projects again.

The Riebeek Animal Welfare operates in the communities that need them most. The organisation was founded seven years ago, under a different name but had its RAW makeover five years ago. Not long after that, the charity shop was founded as a way to aid in raising funds. Andy Grobler with the help of a few volunteers, took on the welfare of the animals in their community and it has been a great success.

In the last financial year, they were able to assist over 700 animals through vaccination and sterilisation outreaches. 2023 marked Andy Grobler’s retirement as chairman of the organisation and Bev Voigt stepped into the role.

“The success and growth of the organisation are a tribute to Andy’s caring, commitment, and dedication. If there was such a thing as a “Freedom of the Village” award, he most certainly would receive it. Andy leaves behind an incredible legacy in the Riebeek Valley.” – RAW

RAW works tirelessly to raise awareness for better animal welfare and care, they visit schools to speak to children, aid families in need and offer protection for the animals that need it most.

They welcome support in all forms so be sure to check out their website, and social pages to stay up to date about what’s happening in Riebeek-Kasteel and the shop.

The charity shop is open 9 am – 2 pm Tuesday to Saturday on Sarel Cilliers Street (next to Kasteel Motors), and they welcome support through donations too. If they are not in your area, don’t worry, you can find our list of charity shops here for one in your area.
