If you’re looking for a positively impactful reason to enjoy a delicious dinner in the Cape Winelands, the Mdzananda Animal Clinic’s ‘Dine for Dogs’ Gala has your name on it!

Cape Town, South Africa (10 April 2024) – The Mdzananda Animal Clinic, based in Khayelitsha, will host its first-ever Gala Dinner later this month at the prestigious Durbanville Hills Wine Farm in Cape Town!

Dubbed ‘Dine for Dogs,’ the event will be an important fundraiser, with hopes that good food and great company will bring together animal lovers across the Cape for the paws’ cause.

In case you haven’t met them before, the Mdzananda Animal Clinic are the resident paw patrollers who make the Khayelitsha community a better place for animals round the clock. Their work ranges from sterilising and operating mobile clinics to educating community members on how to care for animals!

In numbers, around 1,500 sick, injured and homeless Khayelitsha animals are helped by the Clinic on a monthly basis.

We love so much about Mdzananda Animal Clinic and have covered a lot of their ‘happy tails’ which you can read all about here.

But, as many who are involved in community work know (especially in the world of animal welfare) hard work and good intentions are rarely enough to get the big and continuous job of positive change done. This is the premise behind fundraising efforts!

“Our clinic and shelter are bursting at the seams and this requires a lot of funding. Our yearly cost is just under 15 million rand and we need all the support we can get from the public to help us care for the animals. We hope that we can sell out at our gala dinner to raise much needed funds for the pets who rely on our services,” says Fundraising and Communications Executive Marcelle du Plessis.

The Dine for Dogs Gala Dinner will then set the table for a two-course dinner experience. There will be wine, talk about positive impact and a lot of inspiration (and information) to go around!

Not to mention, there will be an exciting auction featuring exclusive items and experiences, providing guests with the opportunity to bid on precious treasures for the betterment of the animals Mdzananda cares for. For entertainment, Liezel van der Westhuizen will guide guests through an evening of laughter and camaraderie, while other unique acts like SA’s top ventriloquist Conrad Koch and the angelic voices of the Isibane se Afrika Choir will also have their moments in the spotlight.

Tickets can be found here, and any ticket reservations can be made by contacting Kelly at fund@mdzananda.co.za.
