Ed Sheeran Singles

Ed Sheeran is making history! His album divide has 16 songs on the top 20 singles chart and his album has the highest-ever opening sale for a male artist.

 

The singer-songwriter followed his album in 2011 called ‘+’ and his album in 2014 called ‘x’ with his new album ‘÷’ last Friday, 3 March 2017.

He made history by becoming the first male artist to achieve such high opening sales, with 672,000 combined units. The album is also third in opening sales overall, after Adele’s 25, with 800,000 opening sales, and Oasis’ Be Here Now with 696,000 opening sales.

“I never expected to have nine songs in the top 10 ever in my life, I don’t know if something has gone wrong, but I’m definitely very happy about it.”

“Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” leads the singles chart for a ninth week, with 141,000 combined chart sales. He becomes the first artist ever to secure the entire top five, and nine of the top ten, with “Galway Girl” new at No. 2, “Castle On The Hill” holding at No. 3 and “Perfect” and “New Man” entering at Nos. 4 and 5.”

Spotify has also confirmed that Ed broke the record on their site for the most streams in the first week of the albums release. He collected 374,721,898 streams worldwide.

In other exciting Ed Sheeran news, it was confirmed that he will be making a guest appearance on the very popular ‘Game of Thrones’.

David Benioff and Dan Weiss said they’d been trying to book him for a while. It is said that the Ed Sheeran booking was made as a surprise for Maisie Williams because she’s a big fan of the singer. Ed Sheeran tweeted,

“guess the cat’s out the bag”
