If you are looking for the ultimate saving this week, how about saving a life? The South African National Blood Service has set up a campaign this weekend called Red Saturday and its going to help thousands of South Africans!

South Africa, South Africa (29 November 2024) – The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) and its provincial allies will be hosting their ‘Red Saturday’ big bleed. This campaign aims to collectively achieve at least 5,000 units of blood to help alleviate the added pressure on the blood supply over the busy festive period.

Malls around South Africa are taking part this weekend as Red Saturday focuses on the ultimate Black Friday special. While shopping for the best deals, you can also save a life or three! The Western Cape Blood Service is excited about the day, hopeful that it will help save lives over the festive season.

“By donating one unit of blood, you get to save up to three lives”, says Michelle Vermeulen, Head of Marketing and Public Relations Department at Western Cape Blood Service.

The Western Cape Blood Service is joining the SANBS by hosting “big bleeds” at twelve participating malls, in the hopes of collecting 1,200 units of blood and aim to welcome at least 300 new donors within the Western Cape. This will go a long way to contributing to the overall goal of 5,000.
