Kennel For A Cause has been busy building and handing out kennels to animals in need; watch as one pup gets excited about her new house.
Somerset West, South Africa (27 May 2024) – Kennel For A Cause is having a busy Autumn, building kennels and now handing them out to animals in need.
The charity was started after Aneska and Shaun Spies visited a vaccination day hosted by a local animal shelter. They decided to do something to help the animals they saw there. They started building kennels to ensure each dog had protection from the coldest days and shelter from the blazing sun.
The couple started with one kennel, and as they inspired people to donate, they made even more. Now, several years later, the kennels make a huge difference to many animals!
A kennel offers protection for animals during harsh weather. It also raises awareness and shows other pet owners the importance of having suitable housing for their pets.
The first kennel was completed on the 24th of April 2021, and since then, they have made 300! Shaun has tweaked his design since they first started, and they have added waterproofing to the roof. The pair hosted a painting day where volunteers got to get creative, beautifully painting all the kennels destined for homes through animal welfare organisations in the Western Cape.
“Our 300th kennel delivered to the adorable Sandy from Lourencia Park headed up by K9 & Bridgers- Rescue! She was also a lucky recipient of a brand new runner to give her some comfort and freedom. Thank You to Aunty Lucille and her daughter for sponsoring the kennel and runner.
It hasn’t been easy juggling the demands of entrepreneurship with our commitment to helping animals, but the joy of making a difference fuels our determination every day”
Take a look at Sandy receiving the kennel below. Her reaction is too cute!
