By teaching women to crochet adorable crafts such as Snuggleheads, the nonprofit organisation Project Purpose has sparked their creativity and provided a pathway to their financial independence.

Kya Sands, South Africa (12 December 2024) – Project Purpose is a non-profit dedicated to helping individuals find their purpose and end the cycle of poverty, through education and skills development.

With this mission, the NPO has made significant strides in empowering the women of the informal settlement of Kya Sands in Johannesburg through crocheting skills to create endearing crafts such as Snuggleheads.

Each Snugglehead is lovingly made by talented Kya Sands women who are eager to gain financial independence, improve their lives and support their families.

“Lovingly handmade by these ladies, Snuggleheads are more than just cute crochet buddies—they’re little bundles of fun, creativity, and emotional support.

“These soft, tennis-ball-sized characters are just the right size for little hands and big imaginations, making them perfect for all kinds of activities and motor skills,” shares Project Purpose.

These crafts can also make the perfect gift for a little loved one this Christmas and this year the Project Purpose is opening them up to the public so that everyone can enjoy them.

For a young mom like Progeny, making a little money from selling her crafts helps her provide for her little boy Ndivhuwo, whom she lives with in a small room.
