Linkin Park is performing a tribute concert for the late Chester Bennington, the band’s frontman and lead vocalist. Fans will be able to stream the concert live.
The ‘Linkin Park & Friends Celebrate Life in Honour of Chester Bennington’ tribute concert has been arranged so that Chester’s bandmates can say their final farewell.
The concert is taking place at the Hollywood Bowl and has already sold out. The band announced that they would live stream the event so that fans from across the globe can also experience the final goodbye. They have arranged various artists to join them on stage in honour of their fallen friend.
Blink-182 will be performing at the show as well as Korn frontman Jonathan Davis, Avenged Sevenfold members M. Shadows and Synyster Gates, several members of System of a Down, Yellowcard singer William Ryan Key, and solo artist Kiiara, who featured on Linkin Park track ‘Heavy’.
Mike Shinoda from the band wasn’t sure if they should perform and sought out guidance from their producer.
“I had gone to Rick Rubin as a source of guidance. He said, ‘I think you guys need to get onstage.’ I think that’ll be the thing that’ll feel good. It’ll be super, super hard. We haven’t gone out together in public, we haven’t played.
“[He said] ‘The fans want to see you. Not because they want to see a show, there’s a cathartic experience that needs to happen and it’ll inform what you guys are doing.'” – Mike Shinoda
The live-stream will begin at 7.45pm PST which is 2.45am, Saturday, October 28 GMT. You can find the Linkin Park YouTube channel here. The money from the concert will go to ‘Music for Relief’s One More Light Fund’.
