Local Clifton Lifeguards set to Compete in Australia for First Time!

Clifton Lifesavers are heading to the Lifesaving World Championships in Australia to represent South Africa!

Clifton, South Africa (25 April 2024) – Clifton Surf Lifesaving Club (CSLC) is thrilled to announce its participation in the 2024 Lifesaving World Championships, set to take place from August 20th to September 8th, 2024, on the illustrious shores of the Gold Coast, Australia. This monumental event will witness the gathering of lifesaving athletes from across the globe, and the CSLC of 30 Lifeguards aims to represent its local community with pride and excellence.

Founded in 1965, CSLC has been steadfast in its commitment to serving communities through the delivery of top-tier water safety, drowning prevention, and lifesaving sport programs. With a vision to become one of the world’s leading clubs in drowning prevention, education, and competition, CSLC is embarking on a journey to the pinnacle of lifesaving excellence.

The decision to participate in the Lifesaving World Championships aligns with CSLC’s strategic goals, including a five-year plan to rank among the top three lifesaving clubs globally and a ten-year plan to emerge as the foremost club in drowning prevention, education, and competition. By sending a team to both the 2024 World Champs in Australia and the 2026 World Champs in Morocco, CSLC aims to equip its lifeguard leaders with invaluable experiences and knowledge to benefit the broader community.
