Here’s a unique love story that will hopefully warm your heart. In a community where need is great, Love Story, an extraordinary charity celebrated an incredible milestone – 5 million meals served! More than just a number, it represents 5 million full bellies and countless smiles brought to those facing hunger in the city and surrounding townships of the Eastern Cape.
Gqeberha, South Africa (27 March 2025) – Five million bowls, satisfied bellies, wide smiles. Five million meals. That’s the incredible milestone that Love Story celebrated just last month and it’s feat we can’t help but celebrate too!
Based in one of the most underserved areas in our country, the Eastern Cape, Love Story is operated by an amazing team who has learned that for some, hope comes in the form of a bowl of soup or a bread roll.
They run a soup kitchen in the city centre every weeknight where they feed up to 200 homeless people. They also supply another 70 township kitchens weekly with ingredients to feed their communities.
As of last month, these hearty bowls of soup and goodness have totalled five million!
“This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the kindness of our community, volunteers, and donors,” Love Story says.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported Love Story in our mission to feed hungry people living in poverty. With your generous help, we’ve reached the incredible milestone of providing 5 million meals.”
Times are really tough in our country but with such compassionate teams working day in and out to make a difference and bring relief there’s a reason to have hope.
