As the festive season approaches, the WAS Foundation is reaching out to the community for a helping hand. They are aiming to make Christmas magical for 132 underprivileged children by hosting a special party and providing each child with a special gift.
Krugersdorp West, South Africa (24 October 2024) – If you’ve stepped into your local mall or shopping centre recently, you’ll likely have spotted some tinsel, fairy lights, stars and Christmas decorations that are already on display. Easily signalling that the highly anticipated red holiday is just around the corner, folks!
While you prepare plans on how to go about celebrating Christmas day, the WAS Foundation is asking that you open your heart and consider the 132 children that they would love to host for a love-filled party and a little something special to take back home.
“Every year, we host a special Christmas party to bring joy and festive cheer to the underprivileged children in our community.
“To make this day magical, we invite you to help us in fulfilling the Christmas wishes of these precious children,” appeals the Founder of WAS Foundation, Esmarelda van Zyl in a post.
The organisation still has 132 children in need of a Christmas gift this year and is relying on the kindness and compassion of the greater public to make this possible.
You can support this initiative from across the world by virtually sponsoring a child for R350 and volunteers will purchase a gift on your behalf.
If you are in South Africa you also have the option of couriering a gift to the WAS Foundation soup kitchen.
Here’s how you can help:
WAS Foundation has created a list of all the children they would like to give gifts to this year. Each child has a name, age and clothing size.
From this list, people can choose a child (or children) they’d like to sponsor before proceeding to purchase an age-appropriate gift and treats to the value of no more than R350.
All gifts must be dropped off at one of the designated locations by 11 November 2024.
For more information and drop-off point details, email esmarelda@wasfoundation.org.za and melissa@wasfoundation.org.za.
