As part of its mission to address period poverty, Mama Flo is seeking new homes for a surplus of donated menstrual cups.

Cape Town, South Africa (28 January 2025) – Mama Flo, the charity working overtime to address and minimise period poverty in Cape Town, is calling on all communities open to using menstrual cups to come forward!

Mama Flo provides an agency for women’s period freedom, free period education, and free period products.

Its mission is to ensure that women have access and agency to period products that suit their needs, preferences, and lifestyles.

Following recent workshops and open discussions the dedicated team discovered that while the women of the community of Langa may not fully be sold or comfortable with using menstrual cups, it opened the opportunity to branch out into other communities in need.

“We always strive to provide options that are not just accessible but also welcomed and embraced.

“Every time we introduce a product—whether it’s reusable pads, tampons, single-use pads, or other period products—we ensure it’s a collaborative process. Through this process, we’ve built trust and gained valuable insights, shaping our decisions to truly meet the needs of those we serve,” Mama Flo said.

With that said, Mama Flo is currently sitting on a surplus of donated menstrual cups and would hate for them to go to waste!

If you’re part of or know of a community that would appreciate and use menstrual cups, the Mama Flo team would love to hear from you. These donations could make a big difference to the right group of girls and women.
