Matla A Bana has transformed the experience for child victims at Kuils River, creating a safe, warm, and inviting sanctuary where they can finally find the support they need to report crimes.

Kuils River, South Africa (10 December 2025) – In its ongoing mission to protect society’s youngest and most vulnerable, the Matla A Bana charity recently opened its latest child-friendly reporting facility at Kuilsriver Police Station.

This vibrant space, featuring bright colours and engaging activities, is designed to create a comforting environment for child victims during assessments.

Over the past few weeks, the facility has been meticulously developed to ensure it meets the needs of those it serves. Matla A Bana, a non-profit organisation, is dedicated to assisting children who have experienced rape and sexual abuse through various support and educational projects. The charity’s primary objective is to minimise the secondary trauma that child victims often endure when navigating a flawed reporting system. A child-friendly reporting facility is a significant step toward achieving this.

The official launch of the new space at Kuilsriver took place yesterday, where SAPS members, Western Cape Provincial Head of FCS, Brig Manono Tantsi, and Acting Subdistrict Commissioner in Tygerberg, Brig Jan Alexander, thanked and praised Matla A Bana for facilitating the donation of the new facility in an area where sexual abuse is a great concern.

Matla A Bana Founder, Monique Strydom, has had a long relationship of more than 23 years with SAPS and said they remain inseparable in the crusade to ensure that women’s and children’s safety and dignity are taken care of.

“To date, Matla A Bana has implemented more than 40 of these facilities and trained more than 6,000 officers of the law. We are proud partners of SAPS,” said Monique.

“A special word of thank you to Rose Street Trust for donating the funds and pledging more funds towards another facility.

Her commitment and words were echoed by the representative of the sponsor, Rory Antrobus, who pledged that they will forever respond to any matter that involves the assistance of vulnerable victims of crime, especially women and children.
