While raising a puppy for someone else requires dedication and commitment, the rewards are life-changing! The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind is seeking compassionate individuals to participate in their Puppy Raising Programme.
South Africa (16 January 2025) – Raising a puppy only to later part ways with it requires a lot of heart. These little ones manage to fill our lives with joy while often getting into some of our most prized possessions. However, for many people who depend on dogs to assist them, it is a significant and compassionate responsibility that our world truly needs more of.
The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind is taking applications for its Puppy Raising Programme for people looking to play a vital part in raising future heroes who are well prepared for both advanced training and their future work as guide, service, and autism support dogs.
This programme involves fostering puppies for the first 16-18 months of their lives, teaching them essential skills like good behaviour, socialisation, and confidence.
While raising a puppy for someone else is no small task to take on, the Guide Dog Association assures that the reward far outweighs the heartbreak.
“That tiny furball you helped raise will grow up to become a protector, a companion, a friend, and a guide – someone’s lifeline.
“Knowing you played a part in changing a life and making the world a better place is a reward beyond words.”
The programme also offers raisers a supportive community of passionate, like-minded people who share their experiences, celebrate milestones, and understand the joys and challenges of raising these precious dogs.
To help give a little furry pal a happy puppyhood and raise him or her to greatly bring ease and protection to life in need, visit the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind applications page here.
