South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is promoting fitness with a brilliant new campaign. Here’s all you need to know…
At the crack of dawn, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa did a 5km walk with Cape Town residents to promote fitness and healthy living and people are loving it.
President Cyril Ramaphosa joined 200 people and took part in an early morning walk from the Gugulethu sports ground to the Athlone Stadium at 5.30am this morning (20th February 2018).
The President invited Cape Town residents to join him for the walk. The invite went out to running clubs, local personalities, ANC members and everyday residents. The walk was a simple 5km and got the spirits up of all involved.
The last time the newly-elected president was spotted was last week when he was photographed walking along the Sea Point Promenade with former finance minister Trevor Manuel. He is very keen on staying active and has also been spotted walking along the East London beachfront.
“Ramaphosa did not want to talk politics, he was there to instil a culture of fitness and connect with people. The president said he usually walked 1km in 6 minutes but because of all the talking, his pace slowed right down,” Faiez Jacobs, ANC Western Cape Secretary.
According to IOL reports, President Ramaphosa said he was on a mission for his “tummy to fall”. We feel you there sir, that’s our 2018 goal too!
“I want my tummy to fall, so I will continue walking,” -President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Once again, South Africans took to social media to share their opinions on the ” Peoples President” and his ability to be so flipping cool.
“In one week we went from #ZumaMustFall to #TummyMustFall 🙂 Immediate improvement for SA, moving from sickening corruption to health and fitness. Stay winning Mzansi! South Africa feels better already :)” – @ejaz_k

I think @CyrilRamaphosa will do well because he's had the benefit of watching the first 3 Presidents highlights and mess ups, he seems to listen and to have surrounded himself with good advisers who have their ear to the ground. I am in Mr. President. #SendMe #TummyMustFall
