Samaritan’s Feet believes in the power of connection and hope through shoes. While they have clothed the feet of over 100,000 South Africans to date, their mission goes beyond simply providing footwear.

Stellenbosch, South Africa (28 January 2025) – Over 100,000 pairs of shoes have been collected, distributed and placed on the feet of disadvantaged children and vulnerable people across South Africa. This is the incredible achievement of the beloved charity that continues to live up to its name, Samaritan’s Feet.

The charity’s core focus is to serve impoverished children and the elderly who don’t have proper shoes.

Thousands of volunteers have connected with these children individually and more organisations continue to take hands with Samaritan’s Feet in its mission to positively impact and inspire young people.

“Our approach is not one of merely giving shoes, but of giving hope. Because what people hunger for more than anything else, is hope,” Samaritan’s Feet South Africa CEO Hermien Louw shares.

When giving out shoes to those who need them most, kind volunteers make it a point to foster a connection by washing their feet and giving them hope.

“Because positive connection, both physical and emotional, makes an enormous impact on people’s lives,” adds Louw.

With ambitious goals for the year, Samaritan’s Feet aims to distribute 50,000 more pairs of shoes, expand its reach nationally, and deepen its impact through collaborative efforts with other organisations.

By also using sport and culture to connect with communities and providing support beyond just footwear, Samaritan’s Feet is truly helping children “walk into their destiny”!
