Santa Shoebox has given some inspiration for those wanting to make more pledges or invest a little more in their 2020 boxes.
South Africa (26 February 2020) – You can start preparing for your Santa Shoebox pledges starting in March. This way of collecting items is great if you want to pledge more boxes this year.
The Santa Shoebox Project was started in 2006 with only 180 boxes being handed out. Since then, the charity has touched the lives of over 858 673 underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia.
Everyone gets involved, from corporate businesses to groups of friends and individuals. Everyone who gets involved makes an incredible effort to give the very best boxes. Take, for example, last year; a young man was also gifted driving lessons as part of his box. The gesture brought everyone to tears!
“When a donor pledges a Santa Shoebox, they promise a child the gift of self-worth and fulfilled potential. These are so much more than “just” a shoebox; each donor fills a decorated shoebox with 8 required items – a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and a facecloth, school supplies, a toy, sweets and an outfit of clothing.”
Sometimes we wish we could pledge more than one box but it can add up. That is why the Santa Shoebox Project has come up with an action plan where you buy one thing a month to fill your box for September delivery. This way you can invest more in one box or pledge multiple boxes.
Take a look at their helpful list below and take note of their top tips for each month.
If you would like to know more about the project, you can check out their website here or their Facebook page here. Don’t worry, we will also remind you when pledges start so you can make sure the clothing you bought will fit your pledge.
